And here are the most recent new releases from Hyperion …
Dame Sarah Connolly has teamed up with Joseph Middleton to record a programme of Mahler's Rückert-Lieder, settings of this most prolific of poets whose anguished lyrics also inspired songs from Brahms, Liszt, Loewe, Schubert, the Schumanns and Richard Strauss. This new Signum album includes the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Kindertotenlieder.
Harpsichord Concertos Nos 2, 5 & 6 by Johann Sebastian Bach have been recorded for Signum Classics by The Hanover Band and soloist/director Andrew Arthur. Including for good measure the pioneering Brandenburg Concerto No 5—in all but name the first ever harpsichord concerto—this album makes a pair with last year's release of the other four concertos: 'An enjoyably no-nonsense kind of playing … Andrew Arthur and the one-to-a-part strings of The Hanover Band play with a feisty swing' (Gramophone).
