De Profundis

Founded in 2011, De Profundis is an early music vocal ensemble based in Cambridge. The choir presents concerts of Continental Renaissance polyphony at the original low pitch, employing the all-adult-male singers appropriate to the period. In 2012 the choir recorded the plainsong on I Fagiolini’s ‘1612 Italian Vespers’. On its release this album entered the Specialist Classical Chart at number one and was Gramophone magazine’s Recording of the Month. It was later nominated for the 2013 Gramophone Early Music Award.

De Profundis’s concert schedule involves some of the world’s leading early music conductors: past and future directors include Robert Hollingworth, Andrew Parrott, Jeremy Summerly, Bruno Turner, Edward Wickham and Andrew Carwood.
