The text of Aus der Tiefen (‘Out of the deep’) is based on the words of Psalm 130. However, Schelle did not use the whole text in its original version; instead it only appears in the three tutti sections at the beginning, middle and end of the work. For the other parts the composer used a rhymed paraphrase, which allowed him to set these verses as stanzaic arias followed by ritornelli, giving the work the appearance of a cantata.

Le texte de Aus der Tiefen («Des profondeurs») a été élaboré à partir du Psaume 130. Dans sa version originale, Schelle n’exploita pas le texte dans son intégralité. Celui-ci n’apparaît au contraire que dans trois sections tutti au début, au milieu et à la fin de l’œuvre. Pour les autres sections, le compositeur s’est servi d’une paraphrase rimée qui lui permit de mettre en musique ces versets comme des arias strophiques suivis de ritournelles, donnant ainsi à cette page l’apparence d’une cantate.

Der Text von Aus der Tiefen basiert auf den Worten des 130. Psalms. Schelle hat hier jedoch nicht den gesamten Psalmtext im originalen Wortlaut verwendet; vielmehr erscheint dieser nur in den drei Tuttisätzen zu Beginn, in der Mitte und am Ende des Werks. Für die übrigen Teile bediente sich der Komponist einer gereimten Paraphrase—musikalisch gab ihm dies die Freiheit, diese Verse als strophische Arien mit anschließenden Ritornellen zu vertonen und dem Werk eine kantatenhafte Gestalt zu geben.
