July 2012 Releases

As we enter the quiet of the summer, pride of place as Hyperion's Record of the Month for July 2012 has to go to that most perfect of works, the Schumann Piano Concerto presented alongside his two other concertante works—Angela Hewitt makes an inspired coupling with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Hannu Lintu.

Angelika Kirchschlager is the divine soloist in our much-awaited second volume of The Complete Liszt Songs, Julius Drake once more providing virtuosic accompaniment. Andrew-John Smith pays a third visit to the tribune of La Madeleine in Paris for a concluding survey of Saint-Saëns Organ Music including a rare performance of the monumental Fantaisie pour orgue-Aeolian.

Pioneering re-issues welcome the return of Stephan Genz and Roger Vignoles in their discovery of the early Wolf Heine & Lenau Songs, and find Gothic Voices and Christopher Page exploring compositional innovations by the anonymous fourteenth-century Masters of the Rolls.
