Born in Luzern, Mauro studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. He won first prize and the public award at the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau in 2012. He has recorded for Sony Classical with pianist Helmut Deutsch, including Franz Schubert’s Goethe-Lieder and Robert Schumann’s Lieder, among other works.

Previous performances include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Semperoper Dresden, Opéra National de Paris, and the Salzburg Festival in 2022. He sang his first Wagner role, Loge in Das Rheingold, during a tour with Kent Nagano, and also made a recording of this performance. He made his role debut as Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus at the Musikverein in Graz, as well as his debut as Max in Der Freischütz at the Bregenzer Festspiele. In addition, he has performed Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 with the Gewandhausorchester under Andris Nelsons.

Mauro frequently gives recitals across Europe, including Schubertiades, KKL Luzern, Wigmore Hall London, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Musikverein Graz, Konzerthaus Berlin, Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid, Festival de Pâques Aix-en-Provence, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Kölner Philharmonie, and the Salzburg Festival, among many others.

He has collaborated with conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Vladimir Jurowski, Iván Fischer, Riccardo Minasi, Fabio Luisi, Ivor Bolton, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Teodor Currentzis, Zubin Mehta, Simone Young, and many others.
