Described by The New York Times as ‘a genuine artist, with a thoughtfully conceived and poetic interpretation’, Minsoo Sohn is a Korean-American pianist known for his musical intelligence and masterful virtuosity.

Sohn has toured extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, and Korea. As a soloist, he has performed alongside leading orchestras including The Cleveland Orchestra, Boston Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Jerusalem Camerata, Holland Symfonia, National Orchestra of Belgium, Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, Korean National Orchestra, and KBS Symphony, among others; collaborating with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Pietari Inkinen, Wilson Ng, Joel Levi, Jane Glover, Domingo Hindoyan, and Sasha Goetzel.

Recent highlights include a duo tour with fellow pianist Yunchan Lim across Korea and at the Verbier, Gstaad Menuhin, and La Roque d’Antheron festivals in Europe; and a series of recitals playing Beethoven’s sonatas. The 2025/26 season also saw Sohn perform on tour alongside the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. In the 2026/27 season, Sohn will focus on recital appearances across Europe, North America and Asia, performing Bach’s Well-tempered Clavier, and including major stages such as Carnegie Hall.

Sohn owes much of his success to his mentors, Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun, with whom he studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston. After teaching at Michigan State University, Sohn returned to Korea as a much sought-after performer and teacher, and he joined the faculty of the Korean National University of Arts. He has also adjudicated on the jury of prominent international piano competitions, including the Honens, Montreal, and Busoni Competitions. In 2023, Sohn joined the piano faculty at New England Conservatory.

뉴욕 카네기홀, 보스턴 심포니홀, 조던홀, 토론토 글렌 굴드 스튜디오, 오타와 국립예술센터, 클리블랜드 세브란스홀, 샌프란시스코 헙스트극장 등 수많은 북미 주요 무대에 올랐으며 뮌헨 가스타익, 벨기에 팔레 데 보자르, 부에노스아이레스 콜론극장, 도쿄 산토리홀, 서울 예술의전당, 롯데콘서트홀 등에서 독주회와 협연 무대를 이어갔다. 또한 보스턴 심포니, 이스라엘 필하모닉, 클리블랜드 오케스트라, 캘거리 필하모닉, 퀘벡 심포니, 벨기에 국립오케스트라 등 세계적 명성의 오케스트라와 협연하였다.

손민수는 2017년부터 2021년까지 베토벤 피아노 소나타 전곡을 무대에 올리는 대장정과 함께 이를 아우르는 베토벤 소나타 전곡 앨범을 발매하였으며 2022-23시즌에는 리스트 초절기교 연습곡 전곡, 라흐마니노프 회화적 연습곡, 2023/24시즌에는 바흐 골드베르크 변주곡 전곡 연주와 전국 투어를 마쳤다. 또한 손민수는 모차르트의 24번과 27번, 베토벤의 4번과 5번, 슈만, 브람스의 2번, 라흐마니노프의 3번 등을 같은 시즌에 협연하는 방대한 피아노 협주곡 레퍼토리를 그만의 독창적인 해석으로 들려주고 있다. 2025/26 시즌에는 슬로베니안 필하모닉 오케스트라, 빈 심포니, 아카데미 오브 세인트 마틴 인 더 필즈와의 협연을 이어가며 활발한 연주 활동을 펼치고 있으며, 2026/27 시즌에는 바흐 평균율 1권 전곡을 중심으로 한 리사이틀 투어를 이어갈 예정이다.

그는 미시간 주립대학교와 한국예술종합학교에서 교수를 역임하였으며 2023년 가을학기부터 미국 보스턴 뉴잉글랜드 음악원에서 후학양성에 심혈을 기울이고 있다. 또한 캐나다의 호넨스 국제콩쿠르, 노르웨이의 탑오브더월드 국제콩쿠르, 이탈리아의 부소니 콩쿠르 등 권위있는 국제콩쿠르의 심사위원으로 지속적으로 초청받고 있다.

현재 손민수는 제너럴 소속사로 아이엠지 아티스츠(IMG Artists), 한국에서는 목프로덕션, 일본에서는 재팬 아츠(Japan Arts)와 함께 하고 있다.
