Matthew Kitteringham (bassoon)

Matthew Kitteringham is a bassoonist currently based in London who regularly performs all over the UK. Originally from the Wirral, Matthew attended the junior department at the Royal Northern College of Music whilst studying the bassoon with Laurence Perkins, before completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Matthew attained a First Class (Hons) Bachelor of Music degree and graduated with Distinction from a Master of Arts degree under the tutelage of Robin O’Neill and Jonathan Davies. He also studied the contrabassoon with Simon Estell and Fraser Gordon, and was awarded a Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music.

Matthew now enjoys a varied freelance schedule working with many of the UK’s finest orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and The Hallé, ranging from concert performance to ballet and opera, as well as recording-session work. He also relishes the opportunity to play chamber music and perform as soloist.
