Welsh harpist Eira Lynn Jones combines the three strands of her illustrious career as performer, teacher and composer. She regularly plays with The Hallé, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic, and has given solo recitals in Johannesburg, Copenhagen, New York, Athens, Reykjavík and Seville. Recordings include Fragments (for flute and harp), Forgotten Dreams (solo harp) and … from within (harp and clarsach).

She is passionate about developing harp repertoire and has premiered works by Anna Appleby, Sally Beamish, Eddie McGuire, Catherine Kontz, Esther Swift and John Reeman. Her favourite projects include a collaboration with composer Martin Ellerby on a series of new works and recordings for harp, two sold-out residencies at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival, and ‘Flyways 22’—a digital project for harpists of all ages.

Eira is recognized as one of the UK’s leading harp teachers. She was Head of Harp at the Royal Northern College of Music and Chetham’s School of Music, and now gives masterclasses worldwide. She directed the RNCM International Harp Weeks, the Saltaire Camac Harp Festival and has been guest artist at the Harp on Wight Festival, Eastman School of Music, Thessaloniki Conservatoire and the Wales Harp Festival.

As a composer, she was selected for Illumine Theatre’s audio drama Tremolo, and collaborated with the multi-award-winning dance company DanceSyndrome on The Sunken Forest, a re-telling of a Welsh legend, Cantre’r Gwaelod, for solo harp, narrator, dancers and film.
