It is very sad indeed that La Mandragore (from Delibes's Jean de Nivelle) remains incomplete. All that exists is a free fantasy in Liszt's last and sparsest style on the orchestral introduction to the opera, then on the introduction to the ballad itself, and then – silence.

Il est, en vérité, fort dommage que La Mandragore (tirée de Jean de Nivelle de Delibes) demeure incomplète. Tout ce qui existe est une libre fantaisie, dans le style ultime (le plus clairsemé) de Liszt, sur l’introduction orchestrale de l’opéra, puis sur l’introduction à la ballade même, puis … silence.

Es ist wirklich sehr traurig, daß La Mandragore (aus Delibes' Jean de Nivelle) unvollendet geblieben ist. Es existiert lediglich eine freie Fantasie in Liszts letztem, kargstem Stil über die Orchestereinleitung zur Oper, danach über die Introduktion zur Ballade selbst, und dann – Stille.
