La serenate e l'orgia – Grande Fantaisie sur des motifs des Soirées musicales de Rossini is the first version of what was later the Première Grande fantaisie, and although the shape of the work is not substantially different, several passages were rethought for the second edition; the coda, for example, is a much shorter headlong rush for the final bar.
