Vincenzo Petrali

Vincenzo Petrali (1830–1889) was organist in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, Italy, and taught in Bergamo and Pesaro. He is remembered today as the teacher of Enrico Bossi who went on to become Italy’s greatest composer for the organ. Petrali himself had a great reputation as an organ virtuoso, and wrote a very large number of lively and tuneful organ compositions.
