Barnaby Rea (bass)

Born in Sussex, Barnaby Rea trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio, where he was supported by Scottish Opera and a Sybil Tutton Award administered by the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund. He is currently studying with John Evans and has joined English National Opera’s Harewood Artists programme. His recent engagements include Colline (La Bohème) for ENO and Opera North; Singer (Intermezzo) for Garsington Opera; Masetto (Don Giovanni) and Mother (The Seven Deadly Sins) for Scottish Opera; Lodovico (Otello), Nourabad (The Pearl Fishers), Ceprano (Rigoletto), Second Priest/Second Armed Man (The Magic Flute) and ensemble in Jakob Lenz for ENO; Zaretsky/Captain (Eugene Onegin), Bonze (Madama Butterfly) and Rocco in Wolf-Ferrari’s I gioielli della Madonna for Opera Holland Park; and Nielsen’s Hymnus at the Three Choirs Festival.
