Tim Brooke-Taylor (narrator)

Tim Brooke-Taylor was born in Buxton, Derbyshire, and attended Winchester College before reading economics and law at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he joined the Footlights Revue Club in 1960. It was in the Footlights that he first met, wrote and performed with Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden, John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Eric Idle and Trevor Nunn. The Footlights Revue of 1963, Cambridge Circus, transferred to London and then to Broadway, via New Zealand. Back in England, the cast made several radio series of I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again, the template for the current show I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

The star of numerous television and radio shows, Brooke-Taylor is perhaps best known for The Goodies, in which he appeared with Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden. He and Garden staged two highly successful Goodies shows in Australia in 2005 and at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His subsequent television credits include the sitcoms TLC and Absolute Power, Heartbeat and the Channel 4 quiz series Beat the Nation, which he recently co-hosted with Graeme Garden. He holds an honorary doctorate from the University of St Andrews, of which he was Rector from 1982 to 1985.
