Lukáš Zeman (baritone)

Czech baritone Lukáš Zeman first studied bassoon, conducting and singing in Prague where he was born, before going on to study singing at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. From 2008 to 2013 he studied voice with Sasja Hunnego and Andrew Schroeder at The Royal Conservatoire The Hague, and participated in masterclasses with David Wilson-Johnson, Alessandro Corbelli, Margreet Honig, Malcolm Martineau, Hanna Ludwig, and Donatella Debolini. He graduated from the Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA) performing the role of II Conte in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Richard Egarr and directed by Alexander Oliver.

During his studies, Lukáš performed minor roles at the Fondazione Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte (Montepulciano) and the Komische Oper Berlin. He spent two years as a postgraduate student at the Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Florence, performing Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Il Conte in Le nozze di Figaro, and Slook in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio. Lukáš has also sung the roles of Aeneas (Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas), Papageno (Mozart’s The Magic Flute), Guglielmo (Mozart’s Così fan tutte), Nardo (Mozart’s La finta giardiniera), L’horloge comtoise and Le chat in Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges, with the Dutch National Opera Academy; Phinée in Lully’s Persée at the Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Almagro; and the role of Nat Ackermans in Christian Jost’s Death Knocks at the Dutch Nationaal Jeugdorkest Festival 2012.

Lukáš won the Third Prize at the biggest world competition for solo repertoire in sacred music, the Concorso Internazionale “Musica Sacra”, in Rome in 2014. He is passionate about chamber music, and has given solo recitals in India, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, and the Netherlands.
