Reviews

‘This is an exceptionally fine and important record. It makes Machaut’s music sound more consistently pleasing and acceptable to a wider public than any to date’ (Gramophone)

‘Superb’ (BBC Record Review)

«Une version exceptionelle de beauté» (Harmonie)
Amours me fait desirer (B19) features a timid lover, whose desire is ignited by Love but who hopes he will be accepted by his lady without having to beg for it. The melody begins with a bold leap of an augmented fourth, the middle of the octave which is reached immediately afterward—a provocative symbol of the intensity of the lover’s feelings.
