‘Stunningly beautiful’ (Organists' Review)

'Disco absolutamente recomendable a todos los amigos de la polifonia, qie se encontraran con 73 minutos de buena musica bellamente interpretada' (CD Compact, Spain)
There are surprisingly few sacred works extant by Ginés de Morata, a Spaniard who was employed as mestre da capella at Vila Viçosa. Cum descendentibus is a partial setting of a Matins responsory on Holy Saturday, Aestimatus sum, and was designated as a motet for Good Friday (feria sexta in parasceve) in the Vila Viçosa sources. This very short piece, again for high voices, begins with a canonic imitation at the unison of a falling phrase illustrating the text ‘descendentibus in lacum’.
