Souvenir de Porto Rico 'Marche des Gibaros', RO250 Op 31
1857/8; published in Mainz in circa 1860; alternative titles: Marche des Gibaros; Recuerdos de Puerto Rico

Introduction  EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
Conceived during his days on Mount Matouba, the march of the Gibaros (Puerto Rican peasants) uses a traditional Christmas folksong of the region. It is hard to understand why it does not appear in recitals, having much to offer besides its invigorating pianistic demands.
