Compact Disc CDJ33107
This superb CD brings together two of today's greatest singers to share Schumann's famous
'Myrten' cycle, which contains such immortal favourites as 'Widmung' and 'Du bist wie eine
Blume' (both sung by Ian Bostridge) and 'Der Nussbaum' (sung by Dorothea Röschmann).
The cycle is famed by two sets of four duets, containing other much loved but less often
recorded pieces. There is a strong Robert Burns ingredient in the programme - nine songs,
in translation, and a little-known late partsong.
Graham Johnson has provided his usual absorbing and exhaustive notes in the 120-page illustrated booklet.
