Florian Boesch (baritone)

The Austrian baritone Florian Boesch is one of today’s foremost Lieder interpreters, with appearances at Wigmore Hall in London, the Wiener Musikverein and Wiener Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Philharmonie Cologne, the International Edinburgh Festival and Schwetzingen Festival, Philharmonie Luxemburg, as well as throughout the USA (including Carnegie Hall) and Canada. Accompanied by Malcolm Martineau, he has performed the complete Schubert cycle in Glasgow, and in 2015 they toured Australia. Florian Boesch was a Wigmore Hall artist in residence for the 2014–15 season and at the Wiener Konzerthaus for 2016–17.

Florian Boesch began his international career as Papageno at the Zürich Opernhaus. He has since appeared in a number of Mozart, Handel and Haydn operas, including Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, Radamisto and Belshazzar, and has appeared at the Salzburg Festival, Hamburg State Opera, Theater an der Wien (in Wozzeck), and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. As a frequent guest on the concert platform Mr Boesch has worked with leading orchestras and with conductors including Sir Roger Norrington, Philippe Herreweghe, Sir Simon Rattle, Ivor Bolton, Franz Welser-Möst, Robin Ticciati, Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Adam Fischer and Paul McCreesh. He also worked very closely with Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
