Jackson, Sally (dulcian)

Sally Jackson (dulcian)

Born in 1964, Sally Jackson completed her musical studies at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Gwyddion Brooke, John Orford and Felix Warnock. Since then she has built up a busy career as a freelance orchestral musician on both modern and historical bassoons, and has been Bassoon teacher at Felsted School and Marlborough College. After leaving the Academy she had trials with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras and began to develop an interest in historical performance. For several years now she has been a regular member of The Brandenburg Consort, Deutsche Handel Solisten, The English Concert, The Hanover Band, The Parley of Instruments and The Sixteen. Other engagements have included the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and various 'period' ensambles in London, playing and recording repertoire from Bach to Bruckner.

Sally has played on many Hyperion CDs. These include the first recording of a bassoon concerto by the eighteenth-century composer Capel Bond, the Bach Suites and Handel Concerti Grossi with The Brandenburg Consort and a recording of Mozart Wind Octets with the English Concert Winds.
