Andrew Foster-Williams (bass)

Andrew Foster-Williams studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London. His notable concert engagements include Bach’s John Passion with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Richard Egarr; Bach’s Matthew Passion with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Yannick Nézet-Séguin; and Méphistophélès in Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust with the Russian National Orchestra. His opera engagements include Telramund (Lohengrin) at the Lanaudière Festival, Quebec; Pizarro (Fidelio) at La Monnaie, Brussels, and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris; Balstrode (Peter Grimes) in Lyons; Farone (Mosé in Egitto) for Welsh National Opera; Handel’s L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato in Madrid; Leporello (Don Giovanni), Leone (Tamerlano) and Albert (Werther) in Washington DC; the title role in Guillaume Tell in Wildbad; Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress) in Nancy; Deborah Warner’s staging of Messiah in Lyons; Fenice in Handel’s Deidamia and Hidraot (Armide) in Amsterdam; Pizarro, Leporello and Colline (La Bohème) for Opera North; Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) in Beaune; Alidoro (La Cenerentola) for WNO and Glyndebourne on Tour; the Four Villains (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) in Moscow; and Garibaldo (Rodelinda), Melisso (Alcina) and Argante (Rinaldo) at the Göttingen Handel Festival. He has appeared in concert with the Cleveland, Philadelphia, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Netherlands Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestras; and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Mozarteum Orchestra (Salzburg), the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment and Les Talens Lyriques.
