A new release this month from LSO Live presents an engaging programme of Vaughan Williams, Britten & Elgar: respectively, the Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis, the Variations on a theme of Frank Bridge, and the Introduction and Allegro. Roman Simović conducts the LSO String Ensemble.

Juliette Bausor is a flautist of rare talent and has recorded for Signum Classics a programme of Flute Concertos by Mozart & Nielsen. For this her debut concerto album she is joined by the Royal Northern Sinfonia under Jaime Martín. The London Mozart Players, tenor Nicky Spence, conductor Nicholas Cleobury and a veritable host of singers (including the Oxford Bach Choir and Portsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir) have recorded Jonathan Dove's For an unknown soldier, a new remembrance cantata and a fascinating perspective on the poetry of the First World War, both familiar and less so.
