The second Festmarsch
, on motifs by Duke Ernst of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (cousin to Queen Victoria, upon whose opera Tony Liszt made a paraphrase—in Volume 6 of this series—and whose song Die Gräberinsel he transcribed) is also known as the Coburger-Festmarsch, especially in its orchestral guise. The motifs in question come from the opera Diana von Solange of which original the present writer is obliged to admit total ignorance. But the march itself is felicitously constructed and sounds perfectly echt-Liszt.
