The enchanting Third Impromptu was composed at more or less the same time as the first three Nocturnes and is almost a perpetuum mobile. Beginning in A flat and modulating with dazzling virtuosity through related keys, such minor harmonic clouds as try to impede its progress are but the shadows of shadows and soon swept away in the infectious gaiety of its impetuous semiquavers.

L’enchanteur Troisième impromptu fut composé grosso modo à la même époque que les trois premiers nocturnes. Cette pièce, qui est presque un mouvement perpétuel, débute en la bémol et module avec une virtuosité époustouflante via des tonalités connexes; les nuages harmoniques mineurs qui tentent d’entraver sa progression ne sont que les ombres des ombres, bientôt balayés par la gaieté contagieuse de ses doubles croches impétueuses.

Das zauberhafte Dritte Impromptu wurde mehr oder weniger um dieselbe Zeit wie die ersten drei Nocturnes komponiert und ist beinahe ein perpetuum mobile. Es beginnt in As-Dur und moduliert mit verblüffender Virtuosität durch verwandte Tonarten, und was sich an kleinen harmonischen Wolken zusammenzubrauen versucht, um sein Vorankommen zu behindern, sind bloße die Schatten eines Schattens und werden bald von der ansteckenden Fröhlichkeit seiner ungestümen Sechzehntel hinweggefegt.
