It is Sonata 4 that is the odd man out. Certain notational features set it apart from the five other works (for example, the use of a cross rather than the letter ‘t’ to denote a trill), and its style shows a mixture of French and Italian elements that suggests a north European composer. One cannot say categorically that it is unauthentic, but suspicions remain.

C’est la Sonate 4 qui est l’exception. Certaines caractéristiques de notation la rendent différente des cinq autres morceaux (par exemple l’utilisation d’une croix plutôt que de la lettre «t» pour indiquer un trille) et son style révèle un mélange d’éléments français et italiens qui suggère un compositeur d’Europe du Nord. On ne peut affirmer formellement qu’elle n’est pas authentique, mais le doute demeure.

Bestimmte Eigenheiten der Notation unterscheiden sie von den fünf anderen Werken (beispielsweise die Verwendung eines Kreuzes anstelle des Buchstaben „t“ zur Kennzeichnung eines Trillers), und ihr Stil offenbart eine Mischung französischer und italienischer Elemente, die auf einen nordeuropäischen Komponisten hindeutet. Man kann zwar nicht kategorisch behaupten, sie sei nicht authentisch, aber der Verdacht bleibt bestehen.
