The Nocturne in F minor begins simply with a swinging bass, but in a quicker tempo than the C minor Nocturne. Things get almost military-sounding in the middle, but not for long; the song-like opening returns, dissolving quickly into triplets that take us to the top of the keyboard, before harp-like chords bring the piece to a close.
