Reviews

‘A very welcome reissue indeed. Eloquent, unfailingly beautiful in tone and blessedly free of mannerism, Livia Rev combines in almost perfect balance the simplicity of utterance required of all great Chopin playing’ (BBC Music Magazine)

‘A superb artist whose records should be better known’ (Fanfare, USA)

‘Miss Rev's caressing tone, her complete freedom from all artifice, and her muted coloration are beautifully caught by Hyperion’ (Hi-Fi News)
The unusual thing about the Nocturne in B major is that the ending, with its sinister, threatening drumbeats and rather angry recitative, comes in complete contrast to the serene beginning. But it also transforms what could be a rather uneventful work into something much more meaningful.
