Reviews

‘A treasury of good performances. It could hardly be otherwise with this composer and this roster of singers’ (Fanfare, USA)
The delicious, lute-song-like setting of She, who my poor heart possesses was published in Playford’s fourth book of Choice Ayres in 1683. The subject is an unfaithful lady who extends her favours to ‘ev’ry fop that dresses’. Such is this lady’s skill that even though the poet knows he ought to be angry with her, she always manages to get her way with him and he ends up loving her all the more.
