Fux was primarily a composer of church music and a great theorist, yet he composed nearly twenty operas. This delightful Rondeau is to be found in manuscript in the Dresden State Library. The tutti Rondeau theme provides a framework for ten variations for the solo bassoon and violino piccolo (a smaller violin, tuned a minor third higher than usual).
