Violinistic display dominates Sonata 4. Here both slow movements have shimmering arpeggiation before the final cadence, while the fast movements exploit double-stopping as a percussive effect.

La Sonate 4 est dominée par un déploiement de technique violonistique. Ici, dans les deux mouvements lents, une série d’arpèges précède comme un miroitement la cadence finale, pendant que les mouvements rapides exploitent les doubles-cordes pour obtenir un effet percutant.

Violinistischer Prunk dominiert die Sonate 4. Ihre beiden langsamen Sätze zeichnen sich durch schimmernde Arpeggiatur vor der Schlußkadenz aus, während die schnellen Sätze Doppelgriffe als perkussiven Effekt ausnutzen.
