'The Praeludium in F sharp minor brings the disc to an arresting conclusion. The performance is exhilarating and Herrick judges the pacing to perfect dramatic ends while also having the opportunity to show off his brilliantly agile pedal technique … this recording, along with its two predecessors in the series, is a first-rate addition to the catalogue. On this evidence, Herrick's next release should be eagerly awaited' (International Record Review)

Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ, BuxWV189
chorale prelude

Introduction  EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
The Chorale Prelude on ‘Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ’, BuxWV189 is a Christmas work and based upon a melody that J S Bach was to set in the Orgelbüchlein. In the final bars, Buxtehude’s treatment of the melody is exuberant indeed, and the pedals participate in the joy of Christmas with some of the most animated passagework given to them in the chorale preludes.
