Jonathan Cohen and the vocal and chamber forces of Arcangelo are our expert guides through the heavenly Champs Élisés of early eighteenth-century France in Couperin L'Apothéose de Lully & Leçons de ténèbres; the sweetest of sorrows rendered in music of exquisite beauty. Journeying back another two centuries, the all-male voices of Cinquecento revisit the music of a sixteenth-century Flemish master in Guyot Te Deum laudamus & other sacred music, the ensemble's fusion of scholarship and performance again bringing the unfamiliar into sharp relief.
And finally, in celebration of Christopher Herrick's seventy-fifth birthday this month, we are honoured to present an Organ Fireworks World Tour: a musical Festschrift compiled from his series of outstanding Hyperion recordings over the last thirty years. An affectionate tribute to one of the world's great organists (and fourteen of its great organs).
