Steven Osborne has recorded an immaculate new album featuring Musorgsky's Pictures from an Exhibition and Prokofiev's Sarcasms & Visions fugitives—these contrasting monuments of miniatures make a more than worthy Hyperion Record of the Month for February 2013. This month we also welcome to the label Andrea Oliva, the sensational young flautist joining Angela Hewitt in a recital of six Bach Flute Sonatas.

A fascinating programme from The Nash Ensemble explores the astonishing cultural output of Czech composers in the dying years of the Nazi ghetto of Theresienstadt. Entitled Brundibár, the album opens with a spirited new suite from Hans Krása's opera. Very different aspects of human experience are to be found in Canciones españolas, the dynamic Sylvia Schwartz making her debut on Hyperion and leading Malcolm Martineau through a riot of Granados, Turina, Toldrá, Montsalvatge and Guridi.

Three re-issues this month: the sublime Tallis Missa Salve intemerata from Winchester Cathedral Choir, a perfect pairing of Chausson & d'Indy String Quartets from the Chilingirian Quartet, and For His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts, another ground-breaking survey from His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts.
