Gottlied Conrad Pfeffel

born: 1736
died: 1809
country: Germany

Gottlieb Conrad Pfeffel was born in Colmar and studied at the University of Halle. He became blind in his twenties but pursued a diligent career as a Protestant adminstrator in his home town. He is best remembered for his Fabeln, in which he shows sympathy for the revolutionary ideals of France. Some of his work has been thought interesting enough to republish in Germany in the last twenty years.
