Robert Salter has been director of Guildhall Strings since its formation in 1981. He studied at Wells Cathedral School, and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno. As well as leading Guildhall Strings, Robert has appeared as guest leader with many other orchestras and ensembles including the English Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. He also enjoys his work as leader of the Garsington Opera Orchestra and Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
