Gregory Hustis (horn)

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Mason Jones, Gregory Hustis is an internationally known soloist, chamber-music player and recording artist. Principal horn of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since 1976, he has recorded numerous solo and chamber-music CDs, and has appeared at festivals throughout the world. In addition to Schwantner’s Beyond Autumn, Mr Hustis has premiered and recorded works for solo horn and orchestra by Eric Ewazen, Augusta Read Thomas, Simon Sargon and James Beckel. In addition to his varied performance schedule, Hustis teaches at Southern Methodist University, where in 1995 he received the Meadows Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award. He is Artistic Advisor and Director of Chamber Music for Music in the Mountains, a festival in Durango, Colorado.
