Thomas Trotter won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, London, in 1974. He studied there with Ralph Downes. While at the College he was also Organ Scholar at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and subsequently at King's College, Cambridge, from 1976 to 1979. In 1979 he won a Countess of Munster Scholarship enabling him to study with Marie-Claire Alain in Paris and Gillian Weir in London. He made his Royal Festival Hall (London) debut in 1980 and since then he has given recitals in Britain, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Australia. He has won many awards including all the major prizes for performance at the Royal College of Organists and the Royal College of Music (1976), First Prize at the St Alban's International Organ Competition (1979), a Greater London Arts Association Young Musician Award (1980) and the Prix de Virtuosité (Paris). He is accompanist to the London Philharmonic Choir and the Organist of St Margaret's Church, Westminster.
