A native of the United States, Nancy Hadden studied flute and voice at Ohio Wesleyan University where she became interested in the Baroque flute and taught herself to play it. After further studies in early music at Washington University in St Louis she moved to London in 1978, where she took up the Renaissance flute. She has researched original instruments and music in many European collections. Nancy plays early flutes with many of London’s leading ensembles. She is a founder-member of the Renaissance ensemble Circa 1500 and she has been a member of the Julian Bream Consort since 1983. Concert tours have taken her throughout Britain, Europe, Scandinavia and the Far East, and solo engagements regularly take her across North America. Her solo and chamber music recordings include English Consort Lessons with Julian Bream, albums of Italian, English and Spanish music with Circa 1500, and English Baroque flute sonatas and concertos. She teaches Renaissance music studies at The Guildhall School of Music in London, and at summer schools and workshops in England, the United States and Canada.
