The Britten Quartet is one of the leading string quartets of its generation, acknowledged as ‘one of the most exciting groups to have emerged in recent times’ (The Daily Telegraph). Their discography includes quartets by Schubert, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Prokofiev, Tippett, Beethoven and Schnittke. The Quartet has a considerable international following, having toured many countries in Europe, Scandinavia, Latin America and the Far East. In Britain they have appeared at most of the major music festivals and are regular visitors to the South Bank. Their concert and recording schedule is combined with teaching in London and at several universities around the world. (They are currently resident quartet at the University of Essex.)
