The Peterborugh String Orchestra, founded in 1984, has made an increasingly important contribution to the quality of musical life in the East of England as well as establishing itself as one of the most excitingly versatile and artistically accomplished ensembles at work in Britain today. Backed by the Peterborough Development Corporation, it attracts financial support from the Peterborough City Council Eastern Arts and Lincolnshire and Humberside Arts, the country and district authorities, business sponsorship and on a national basis from the Arts Council of Great Britain.
