Formed in 1981, The Chandos Baroque Players are recognized as one of Britain’s foremost ensembles specialising in baroque music. The group is characterized by its combination of wind and string instruments and has a reputation for lively and carefully researched programmes of both well-known and unusual works. The ensemble appears regularly at many festivals including Edinburgh, City of London, Warwick Arts Week and St James’s Piccadilly. They are increasingly in demand abroad, having toured extensively in Europe, the USA and Canada. They are to be heard regularly on BBC Radio 3 and have also recorded for Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne and for Danish Radio. In addition they have recorded an all-Telemann recital for BBC TV, ‘Music in Camera’.
