Håkan Hardenberger (trumpet)
Håkan Hardenberger is known for his phenomenal and virtuosic trumpet performances. He has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Vienna Philharmonic, and Swedish Radio Symphony, and has worked with internationally acclaimed conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Alan Gilbert, Daniel Harding, Paavo Järvi, Andris Nelsons, David Zinman, Heinz Holliger, and Vladimir Jurowski. Many composers have written works especially for Hardenberger, including Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Rolf Martinsson, Olga Neuwirth, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Arvo Pärt, Rolf Wallin, and HK Gruber. Håkan Hardenberger has performed in cities such as Vienna, Berlin and Luxembourg, appeared at summer music festivals including the Salzburg Festival, the BBC Proms, and the Rheingau, and has collaborated with orchestras including the Vienna Radio Symphony, BBC Symphony, Royal Concertgebouw, Staatskapelle Dresden, Swedish Radio Symphony, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the Bamberg, Gothenburg and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestras. As a conductor, Hardenberger has appeared with the BBC Philharmonic, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian and Swedish Wind Ensembles, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, the Dresden Philharmonic, and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He is also a professor at the Malmö Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.
