Chloë Hanslip (violin)

Chloë Hanslip has established herself as an artist of distinction on the international stage. She made her BBC Proms debut in 2002, her US concerto debut in 2003, and has performed in major venues in the United Kingdom (the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall) and Europe (Vienna Musikverein, Louvre and Salle Gaveau, The Hermitage in St Petersburg) as well as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Metropolitan Arts Space in Tokyo and the Seoul Arts Centre.

Chloë Hanslip has performed throughout Europe with the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic and London Philharmonic orchestras, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Lahti Symphony, Norwegian Radio Symphony, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Vienna Tonkünstler-Orchester, City of Birmingham Symphony, Hamburger Symphoniker, Helsingborg Symphony and the Tampere Philharmonic. Further afield her engagements have included the Detroit Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Tokyo Symphony, Malaysia Philharmonic and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

The conductors Chloë has worked with include Mariss Jansons, Sir Andrew Davis, Leonard Slatkin, Paul Daniel, Paavo Järvi, Pavel Kogan, Leif Segerstam, Gerard Schwarz, Claus Peter Flor, Martyn Brabbins, Stefan Blunier, Michail Jurowski, Jeffrey Tate, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Stefan Solyom and Hannu Lintu. Chamber music has become an integral part of Chloë’s life. She is a regular participant in Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, working with Steven Isserlis and Gerhard Schulz, and at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, where she returned for the fortieth anniversary celebrations in 2009.

In addition to her usual repertoire—including violin concertos by Britten, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Korngold, Shostakovich, Barber, Bernstein, Mendelssohn, Bruch, Elgar, Tchaikovsky, Walton and Sibelius, as well as exploring lesser-known pieces—Chloë champions contemporary works by Adams, Glass, Corigliano, Nyman and Brett Dean. Her recordings of violin concertos by John Adams and Benjamin Godard have received outstanding reviews, while two earlier CDs with the London Symphony Orchestra for Warner Classics won her, respectively, the German Echo Klassik award for Best Newcomer (2002), and Young British Classical Performer at the Classical Brits (2003).

Chloë studied for ten years with the Russian pedagogue Zakhar Bron. She has also worked with Robert Masters, Ida Haendel, Salvatore Accardo and Gerhard Schulz.
