Katherine Watson (soprano)

Following graduation from Cambridge University, where she studied Anglo-Saxon History and Literature, Katherine Watson won a place at Le Jardin des Voix and subsequently appeared with Les Arts Florissants in London, New York, Madrid and Paris. She has an extensive concert career and sings regularly under the batons of William Christie, Emmanuelle Haïm, Stephen Layton and Jonathan Cohen throughout Europe. She is the recipient of the Glyndebourne 2012 John Christie Award.

Engagements have included Diana in Charpentier’s Actéon (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Une Italienne, un fantôme, une bergère in Charpentier’s Médée (Champs-Elysées, Opéra de Lille); Cassandra in Cavalli’s Didone (Champs-Elysées, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Théâtre de Caen); Iphis in Handel’s Jephtha (Salle Pleyel, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels, Theater an der Wien, and Moscow); Virtue and Damigella in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Teatro Real, Madrid) and Diane in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie with William Christie at Glyndebourne, and Apollo e Dafne with Arcangelo and Jonathan Cohen at Carnegie Hall.
