Iestyn Davies was born in York. He is the recipient of the award for the 2010 Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artist of the Year. He studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge University, where he was a choral scholar at St John’s College, before pursuing his vocal studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Since his operatic debut for Zurich Opera he has sung at many of the major houses across the world, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera New York, La Scala Milan, Chicago Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and L’Opéra National de Bordeaux. He has appeared in Britten’s
A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Oberon and Voice of Apollo in
Death in Venice, Arsace and Armindo in Handel’s
Partenope and Hamor in
Jephtha, as the Spirit in Purcell’s
Dido and Aeneas and L’umana fragilità and Pisandro in Monteverdi’s

L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Iestyn also enjoys a busy concert, recital and recording career. He is a regular performer at London’s Wigmore Hall and holds a residency there in the 2012–13 season. Other appearances include recitals at the Edinburgh International Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus, Snape Proms, Brighton Festival, York Early Music Festival and his recital debut in the Carnegie Hall, New York. In concert he regularly appears with all the major orchestras and Baroque ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Symphony, Accademia Bizantina, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, English Concert, the Early Opera Company and Ensemble Matheus. He also collaborates with accompanists including Julius Drake, Roger Vignoles and Kevin Murphy.
