Katherine Broderick (soprano)

Katherine Broderick is the winner of the 2007 Kathleen Ferrier Award. She studied at the National Opera Studio in London, having previously studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she won the Gold Medal, and on the undergraduate course at the Royal Northern College of Music, during which time she spent a year at the Mendelssohn Hochschule in Leipzig. She studies with Susan McCulloch. As well as singing works such as Mahler’s Symphony No 2, Britten’s Les Illuminations, Vaughan Williams’s A Sea Symphony, and Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, Mass in C and Symphony No 9, she has sung the roles of Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte with Gyndebourne on Tour and Woglinde in Götterdämmerung at the BBC Proms. Following a performance as Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, The Times wrote: ‘Katherine Broderick—still only in her twenties—now confirms and expands her thrillingly burgeoning vocal skills in her formidable stage presence as a Tatyana of outstanding character and power.’
