Katherine Broderick is the winner of the 2007 Kathleen Ferrier Award. She studied at the National Opera Studio in London, having previously studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she won the Gold Medal, and on the undergraduate course at the Royal Northern College of Music, during which time she spent a year at the Mendelssohn Hochschule in Leipzig. She studies with Susan McCulloch. As well as singing works such as Mahler’s Symphony No 2, Britten’s Les Illuminations, Vaughan Williams’s A Sea Symphony, and Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, Mass in C and Symphony No 9, she has sung the roles of Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte with Gyndebourne on Tour and Woglinde in Götterdämmerung at the BBC Proms. Following a performance as Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, The Times wrote: ‘Katherine Broderick—still only in her twenties—now confirms and expands her thrillingly burgeoning vocal skills in her formidable stage presence as a Tatyana of outstanding character and power.’
