Hanno Müller-Brachmann (baritone)

Born in the south of Germany, Hanno Müller-Brachmann began his musical training in Basel and Freiburg. He attended Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s Lied classes in Berlin and continued his studies with Rudolf Piernay. Following his success in several international competitions, he has performed in concert halls throughout Europe and Japan, collaborating with the most renowned conductors. He performs an extensive concert repertoire, including Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passions, Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Berlioz’s Romeo et Juliette, Brahms’s Requiem, Britten’s War Requiem, Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Kindertotenlieder, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Schoenberg’s Ein Überlebender aus Warschau. Since 1998 Hanno Müller-Brachmann has been a member of the Berlin State Opera’s ensemble. He has also performed at the opera houses in Basel, Madrid, Paris, San Francisco, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. In addition to opera and oratorio, Hanno Müller-Brachmann is a devoted Lieder singer, and his many festival appearances as a recitalist include the Berliner Festwochen, the Edinburgh Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. He has recorded for radio and television, and he currently teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts.
