Ely Cathedral Choir

The Choir of Ely Cathedral has been part of the English choral tradition since the mid-sixteenth Century and, in terms of monastic heritage, its history can be traced back considerably further to the time of King Canute. Today the choir consists of twenty boy choristers and six full-time lay clerks, expanded to twelve on this recording. Day in, day out, the choir leads the worship of God in the great 'Ship of the Fens', so perpetuating the tradition of a foundation which boasts Tye, White, Farrant, Amner, Harwood, Noble and Wills among its former organists.
