In order to create a classical orchestra which could revitalise and expand the listener's musical awareness of the rich repertoire of the period, research has been made into playing techniques, tempo, pitch, deployment of instruments, and the use of original or exact replicas of the instruments of the period. Original manuscripts and first editions are consulted in order to perform the music as the composers would have conceived and heard it.
The Band performs regularly in London and throughout the British Isles and has toured to great critical acclaim in France, Belgium, Germany, Norway and the United States.
