Vaughan Williams: Sinfonia antartica & Symphony No 9

Evolving from Vaughan Williams's score for the 1948 film Scott of the Antarctic, the Sinfonia antartica is one of the composer's most unusual works, its scoring including wordless solo soprano and women’s chorus, organ, piano and extensive tuned and untuned percussion. It is presented here alongside the mighty Symphony No 9 (the one with 'demented cat' saxophones) and two popular miniatures.

(Studio Master: Please note that the recordings of The lark ascending and the Norfolk Rhapsody included here are taken from the 2006 album English landscapes and have been 'up-sampled' to 24-bit.)
